World Hypertension Day Walk at Dow Institute of CardiologyThe Dow Institute of Cardiology organized a Hypertension Awareness Walk today to highlight the dangers of this “silent killer.” The event aimed to raise public awareness about hypertension, its risks, and the importance of early detection through regular blood pressure monitoring.

Following the walk, fruits were distributed among patients to promote the benefits of a heart-healthy diet and emphasize the role of nutrition in managing blood pressure.

Hundreds of lives are lost every month due to undiagnosed or poorly managed hypertension. This awareness walk played a crucial role in educating the public and encouraging proactive health measures to prevent complications.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants who actively engaged, learned, and showed their support for heart health.

Congratulations to Ms. Fizza Zaidi, MPhil Pharmacology student at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, for presenting her research on antimicrobial resistance against E. coli and securing 1st place in the Oral Presentation category.Her achievement took place at MSIR: Saudi International Conference for Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation, held at Hamad Al Jasser Conference Hall, King Saud University, Riyadh, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Noor Jahan, Dr. Sana Shamim, and Dr. Nadia Naeem.

This memorable event was proudly organized at the Dow Institute of Radiology under the supervision of Prof. Nasreen Naz, by the DIR Community Service Society and Academic Society, with the guidance of our dedicated Coordinators.

The event coverage and creative execution were made possible through collaboration with the DIR Cultural and Dramatics Society.

Honoring Our Nursing Champions: International Nurses Day 2025On the occasion of International Nurses Day 2025, the Nursing Services at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) proudly organized a special celebration to honor the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of our exceptional nursing team.

The event concluded with a meaningful awards ceremony, recognizing nurses for their outstanding contributions in the areas of:

-Infection Control Excellence
-Medication Cart Management
-Exemplary Nursing Practices

These awards reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and patient-centered care, while celebrating the vital role nurses play in the healthcare system.

DOW UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES OBSERVES YOUM-E-TASHAKUR IN SOLIDARITY WITH PAKISTAN ARMED FORCESAs per the directives of the Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Government of Sindh, the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) marked Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) with fervor and patriotic zeal at both its campuses — Ojha and Dow Medical College — in solidarity with the Armed Forces of Pakistan and in tribute to the martyrs of the recent conflict.

A rally and commemorative event were held at the Dow Medical College campus, led by Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jahan Ara Hasan. She was accompanied by Registrar, Dr. Ashar Afaq, Principal of Dow Medical College, Prof. Saba Sohail, Vice Principal, Dr. Shamaila Khalid, Principal, Dow International Medical College, Prof. Iftikhar Ahmed, and senior faculty members including Prof. Sajida Qureshi, Prof. Zeba Ahmed, and Prof. Nawaz Lashari.

To support national efforts, Dow students also launched a blood donation campaign and contributed to emergency preparedness. Hospitals affiliated with DUHS had completed comprehensive emergency response plans to handle potential wartime scenarios.

The rally saw enthusiastic participation from students, who held national flags and banners expressing solidarity with the military. The campus echoed with patriotic chants: “Pakistan Zindabad,” “Pak Fauj Paindabad,” and “Salute to the Martyrs.” Students expressed their unwavering support for the Armed Forces and reaffirmed their commitment to the nation.

The event concluded with a special prayer for the safety, unity, and continued success of Pakistan and its defenders. Later, recitations of the Holy Quran were held for the reward of the martyrs’ souls at the Jamia Masjid Ayesha in Ojha Campus and at the Jamia Masjid adjacent to Dow Medical College and Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi.
